10:30am: Kundalini Yoga with Carrie Kane in Hunt Country's historic Barn
Kundalini yoga is a 5,000 year old science and technology that combines breath, mantra, and physical postures to affect and strengthen the glandular system, nervous system, and the physical and energetic systems of the body.
Designed to work fast to clear the subconscious mind, balance, ground and align the energies, Kundalini Yoga gives us the mental sovereignty to stay focused to a higher frequency. This positive current cultivates our intuition. And keeps us aligned with our souls true purpose.
Kundalini Yoga was specifically designed to help us deal with stress and thrive especially during these pressurized times.  Class ends with a 15 minute gong bath relaxation. You will leave class feeling strong, clear, grounded, and more connected to your  authentic Self.

12:45pm: LUNCH will be staged in Hunt Country's historic barn, and weather permitting enjoyed outdoors

4pm: Conclusion around our beautiful stone fire pit to reflect on the day.

Things to Know:

This is a rain or shine event:
Although we have ordered up great weather with moderate temperatures, we have the use of Hunt Country's historic barn to provide us with cover from the hot sun, or other weather challenges.  All sessions designated outdoors will take place in the barn if the weather is not agreable.

Mornings in September can be cool, and afternoons can be warmer.  Check the forecast and be prepared with layers, sunglasses, hats, sunscreen, and bug repellent.

The barn will also serve as "home base" where guests can stash bags and belongings throughout the event.
Coffee, tea, and water will be staged in the barn as well.

Although food and hydration will be included, please feel free to bring your favorite vessel for water, and additional favorite beverages and snacks.  Hydration is so important when participating in activities such as Yoga.  There will also be local cheeses, picnic items, and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase in the Hunt Country tasting room.

Please arrive about 20 minutes early to sign in and get settled.

Our Trusted Leaders:

Jan Corning:
Jan received her certification from Ohra Studios in Bedford, NY in 2019 after practicing Yoga for ten years.  She teaches a fitness based vinyasa flow at a level half.  So, there is some challenge, but modifications are always offered.  More advanced positions are rarely included in Jans class because she likes to keep the asanas available to everyone.  She focusses on building strength, while increasing flexibility, and also focusing as always, on the breath.  Her goal when teaching is to have the students feel as if they worked at something, and accomplished it!

Carrie Kane:
Mother of three, Grandmother of one.  Massage Therapist for 40? Years… Retired.  Happily Married for 33 years. Widowed for 3.  Kundalini Yoga teacher at The Bedford Post Inn.

After having studied Iyengar Style yoga for 10 years, I was ready for something that offered a more introspective spiritual practice. A series of synchronicities led me to a Kundalini yoga class and I was totally hooked.  After fifteen years of teaching, I am still in awe of the depth of awareness and learning this practice offers.  It has provided a spiritual discipline and structure that I was previously unable to access.  This, in turn, has given me the courage and strength to overcome huge challenges in my life, to trust my inner wisdom, my intuition and to ride the waves with ease and grace.

Margaret Vlymen:
Margaret Myoji Vlymen is an HR professional who also pursues her passion for Zen meditation. Since 2008, she has been practicing with the White Plains Zen group and currently holds the role of Head Monk. In 2017, Margaret underwent Jukai, a lay ordination ceremony during which she received “precepts” (think Buddhist Ten Commandments) and took vows to abide by them. It was at this ceremony that she was given her dharma name, Myoji , meaning “subtle or mysterious compassion”. She maintains a consistent meditation practice each week and participates in various retreats, ranging from partial days to a weeklong session, throughout the year.

Meg Myers:
In 2017, after learning the extraordinary impact a plant based lifestyle has on human health, planetary health and animal well being, Meg transitioned to a whole food, plant- based (WFPB) lifestyle to align with her personal values. In March of 2020 she completed the T Colin Campbell, Plant Based Nutrition Certificate through e-Cornel, Center for Nutrition Studies and has been joyfully WFPB ever since. In July of 2023 Meg received her certificate in Plant-Based Health and Wellness Coaching through the Food Revolution Network. In September of 2023, Meg was hired by the T Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies (CNS) as the Student Support Coordinator. Meg is founder of Wellness Rising, LLC, PlantBased Heath Wellness Coaching. She is an active member of Whole Communities, whose mission is to foster education, discussion, and support for those interested in building resilient communities of health through food. She is also a member of The Branchport Plant-Based People group.

Suzanne Hunt:
In addition to being a co-owner of her family's seventh generation farm and winery, Suzanne is also Vice President for Public Policy for Generate Upcycle, PBC which finances, builds, owns, and operates sustainable infrastructure projects in North America and Europe.  From 2007-2021 Suzanne was a clean tech and climate policy consultant solving problems in energy, agriculture, and transportation.  She currently serves as a NE Chapter Director of Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) and is a Board Trustee of the Seneca Park Zoo Society.  She is also a Board Member of Energy Vision, the Finger Lakes Land Trust, and the Center for Earth Ethics at the Union Divinity School.

At the winery Suzanne has spearheaded a multitude of sustainability and climate resilience efforts – including energy efficiency, geothermal heating/cooling, solar PV, EV chargers, micro-wind, soil health, carbon sequestration, sustainable building materials, waste reduction, wildlife habitat, and advocacy.  In 2020, Hunt County Vineyards was the first winery to receive the New York Wine & Grape Foundation's Sustainability Award.  In 2021 Suzanne and her parents were recognized by Wine Business Monthly as some of the top leaders who shape the way the wine industry operates.  Suzanne has been featured as a “Pioneer” in Science Magazine, and as an expert in her fields in national and international print media and television.
